Session Features

Step two of the session form is a list of features to switch on. You will only see the ones your group's plan includes.

Nothing here has to be on. A session with none of it is a date, a place and a description, which is a perfectly good session.

The listening features

InSync Player is the shared player: you press play and everyone hears it at the same time. Most other features here build on it.

Show Playlist lets people see what is coming up rather than only what is playing.

Music Submission is what lets members send tracks in. It brings its own settings — see below.

The talking features

InSync Comments lets people leave feedback while a track plays, pinned to the moment they were at.

Allow Comment Replies lets those comments become conversations.

Questions collects questions before or during the session. You can give the panel your own sub-heading, and choose whether questions are visible before the session starts or only once it is running.

The rest

Video Stream puts a video player on the live session screen, playing whatever stream link you give it. It's for a group that broadcasts its sessions — on YouTube, say — instead of meeting in Zoom or the built-in meeting: members watch the stream and take part here, which is why it usually goes with Questions rather than with the player. You can have both if you want them; it doesn't replace anything.

Track Release Info shows the notes, cover image and release details the submitter added, alongside the track as it plays. Submitters can fill those in on any session; this is what puts them on screen.

Pre-Session Page gives the session a page before it starts, so members have somewhere to go before it goes live.

Track submission settings

Switching on Music Submission opens these:

  • Allowed submission types — an uploaded audio file, a video link, or a multi-track submission.
  • How many tracks the session takes in total, and how many any one person may send. A member who has hit their own limit is told they can delete one and submit another.
  • Require a confirmed email, and require a connected Discord account, before anyone can submit.
  • Invite only — nobody submits unless an organizer invites them.
  • When submissions close — a number of hours before the session starts, or a deadline you set. Worth using: building a playlist five minutes before the door opens is how sessions start late.

What members see

The session page shows a Submit a Track button when submissions are open and the member qualifies, and says which condition is unmet when they don't. The member-facing version of all this is Submitting Music.
